Crowds enjoy another breath-taking fireworks display

FireworksThousands of people packed into Tamworth’s Castle Grounds on Saturday November 7 for another amazing display of fireworks and a fun-filled evening for the whole family.

Tamworth Borough Council’s Art and Events team again pulled out all the stops to put on another fantastic and breath-taking show, with estimated figures suggesting that attendance to the free event was on a par with last year’s record crowds of more than 25,000 people.

Families enjoyed fire performers, fairground rides, walkabout characters, face painting, a sparkler zone and a variety of food stalls which were busy feeding hungry customers all evening.

Firework-themed artwork created by schoolchildren from across the town with Community Together CIC was also displayed throughout the Castle Grounds.
Touch FM’s James Watts was compère for the evening.

But the highlight of the event was of course the spectacular display of high calibre and show-stopping pyrotechnics which were launched into the sky during an impressive 20-minute set accompanied by popular music.

The crowd-pleasing finale resulted in rapturous applause from the audience and the event was hailed another resounding success.

Visitors took to social media to share their pictures as well as giving their feedback to members of the Arts and Events team on the night.
Comments included “This event just keeps getting better”, “Absolutely fantastic”, “Fabulous display at Tamworth Castle Grounds this evening, well done to everyone involved”, and “Another fantastic event, fireworks were amazing as always! Thank you for a great time”.

Sponsored by Chambers Tamworth for a third time, the event is now in its eighth consecutive year and continues to grow in popularity.

Deputy Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, Cllr Rob Pritchard, said: “Tamworth’s Arts and Events team put on another great show and I thank them for all their hard work. We are very proud of our programme of free outdoor events in Tamworth and we feel it is important that we are able to provide such high quality entertainment for our residents and visitors from outside the town.

“We hope these events drive footfall to the town centre and this certainly seemed to have been the case on Saturday as many of the coffee shops and restaurants were also very busy before and after the fireworks show. We look forward to doing it all again next year.”

Tamworth’s programme of outdoor events is sponsored by Ankerside Shopping Centre.
