Let’s ‘Teech’ you a thing or two about 80s school life!
From high-side ponytails, to squidgy jelly shoes in questionable glittery colours, to blaring your favourite 80s tracks on your Walkman and rushing home to watch MTV or episodes of He-Man and She-Ra – 80s school life was an internet and smart-phone free zone, filled instead with Woolworth’s stationary bargains (sticky-back plastic) and Smash Hits sticker covered rucksacks.
Ah, the good old days eh?
If you fancy taking a trip down memory lane, then joining us at Tamworth Assembly Rooms on Saturday 14th August 2021 for an epic performance of John Godber’s 1984 play ‘Teechers’ is a must for your summer diaries.
Performed by multi-winning theatre company TACT, this laugh out loud comedy cabaret-style play depicts a hilarious inside view into 80s comprehensive school life, as a new drama teacher navigates his way through two terms of challenging, unruly but super funny students, alongside a bunch of cynical colleagues and obstructive caretakers.
This fabulous play is a well-balanced combination of innovative, colourful characters who through their clever humour, are able to deliver several thought-provoking questions. Jam-packed with dodgy school ties, bubble gum blowing and back-chat, Teechers will have you reminiscing about your own school days. Prepare for some taunting audience participation - after all, you didn’t think those unruly 80s teenagers on stage were only going to terrorize their teacher did you?
To really help transport you back to the 80s, audiences will be served a 80s school-style packed lunch during the interval. The play will then be followed by a fabulous back to the 80s school disco. Get ready to boogie the night away to Spandau Ballet, KC and the Sunshine Band, Blondie, Michael Jackson, Guns N’ Roses, Madonna and many more!
Whilst not compulsory, 80s attire is more than welcomed for the evening’s entertainment. Whether you want to don your own 80s school uniform, or dig out those acid-washed jeans, denim jacket and converse – heading back to the 80s with your wardrobe is heavily encouraged and all part of the fun!
The show will start promptly at 7:30pm. Tickets cost £15 per person.
Tickets will be on sale soon.
