Old school music lovers in for a treat with legendary 1980s bands headlining Tamworth Assembly Rooms

Tamworth’s old school music lovers will be captivated with two of the most iconic bands of the 1980s coming soon to Tamworth Assembly Rooms – and this is your chance to see them live!

Fans will be taken on a journey into the past – by T’Pau and The Christians – through phenomenal performances consisting of song, dance and entertainment, giving people the opportunity to experience the hot musical vibe of the 80s.

And you do not need to wait long to hear the bands rock and roll with T’Pau heading to our market town first on Saturday, November 13.

The Shrewsbury band introduced themselves to the music scene in 1987 and instantly became a hit with audiences through a string of top-charting songs.

Their track Heart and Soul entered at No.4 in the UK and US charts, their debut album Bridge of Spies went to No.1 in the album charts and their No.1 smash hit in the dance charts, China In Your Hand, not only appeared on more than 200 compilations but became the longest serving No.1 of the year and a focal part of the 1980s fabric.

Proving to be another feather in their cap, T’Pau managed to hold The Beatles at No.2 in the UK singles and album charts, respectively.

The Assembly Rooms will open its doors to music lovers from 6.30pm with their performance beginning at 7.30pm. Tickets are available for £24 and can be booked on the Tamworth Assembly Rooms website.

Those who cannot get enough and want to jam to more music from the 1980s will get to feel that satisfaction once again with The Christians making their way to the Assembly Rooms on Saturday, November 20.

The Christians tasted great success towards the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s in the UK and Europe. The group became recognised for their soulful yet social songs such as Forgotten TownIdeal WorldBorn AgainHarvest of the WorldFather and more.

The band, who are still lead by singer Garry Christian, have made a comeback and are in the midst of touring across Europe as well as preparing for a massive UK tour, playing some of their classics as well as a few new tunes from their most recent albums.
