Olympic Event

Tamworth's Moment to Shine!

Tamworth was proud to support the 2012 Olympic Games with their very own Olympic event. Sporting a range of cultural activities  such as "It's a knock-Out" and a stage full of world arts festivities performed by local art groups and schools.

The Olympic Torch came to Tamworth!

The Torch came from Hopwas, with Tamworth’s leg of the relay starting at approximately 10am.  It was carried by a number of specially-selected bearers – each of whom carried it for 300 metres – down Lichfield Road, onto Lichfield Street, Silver Street and then into the Castle Grounds.

Over 40,000 Tamworth residents  turned out to line the streets to celebrate this historic moment.

If you missed the Torch and Celebrations please check out the videos below of when the Torch came to Tamworth.
